In reference to the copy/paste 'feature' (issue) in 5.2: (information on this can be found here: http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=4937&highlight=suck).

I've recently noticed that AIM might offer insight as to a solution to this issue. The steps taken to realize just what I mean are as follows:
- Open a new message (to another user) window, or use a pre-existing window.
- Click the "Link" button
- Fill out both Link URL and Text
- Click Ok
- Highlight and copy the newly created link (either prior to sending it, or after... either/or).

- Paste this link into the same, or another message window. Notice how it's the same thing as you copied?

- Paste the same link into a notepad window. Notice how just the text was pasted in, but the 'link' and it's URL are not?

What does this mean? Somehow, AIM is able to do something that I can only describe as a 'smart-double-clipboarding' (in reference to AOL, I use the word smart loosely and in comparison to the other stupid things AOL does). When pasting into AIM, the entire link text/url is preserved, but when pasting to other apps (even word, which will accept HTML style links), only the text of the URL appears (and if the text is different from the URL, the text is the only thing pasted).

Could CE 5.whatever be made to mirror this logic, giving us the ability to copy/paste to/from previous/current versions of CE, and also to notepad, so that we may mass modify certain descriptions, like we could in the past?

If you'd like further technical information on just how this could be possible, I'm all kinds of willing to research it.

Thanks,

- Zhoul

I know how to do that, but you may have noticed that after editing the text in notepad and then pasting it back in AIM will probably not result in the desired results (e.g link is gone, it's just plain text)
same will happen with ce, there is no way it can paste a entry with a script in textform. But I've already added some mass editing stuff to pasting and you should see it soon (paste now opens a window, with a replace description and a change address option)

Actually, these *are* the desired results, in a way... To resolve the issue of copy/pasting from 5.2 to any previous version, this would be great. From any other version to 5.2, now that'd be a whole nother animal, but I'm sure 5.3 could determine if it was a copy paste from a previous version, then act accordingly.

Versions before 5.2, as far as I know, simply used the normal copy/paste text method. 5.2+ use a special CE clipboard object, however.

Lastly: While we're on the topic of mass editing. Can we get a right clicky feature to mass edit pointer base addresses? I do understand we can use symbols now, etc, but this could still be a nice feature. No biggie though.

Thanks,

- Zhoul

I have changed recalculate address to change the address of the base pointer.
so select a group, and choose recalculate.

and in case of symbols base pointers it'll adjust the symbolname text
