So I upgraded from XP to win7 recently, and all was well except some stuff was in french. The data would have commas instead of dots (34,9 GB rather than 34.9 GB) and when I searched for stuff in Internet Explorer the results were french. The whole system didn't seem to be french though. My computer was still a computer rather than an ordinateur.

When I downloaded Firefox everything in the browser was english as normal, and I fixed the commas by changing the language settings in the control panel or something like that.

However, when I install stuff it's still in french. I tried to install my printer using a disk but everything was in french. Downloaded a program from the internet and it installed in french. (edit: It seems some programs i've downloaded will install in english, but some are in french. Weird.)

My "Language bar" says that I'm in (canadian) english, so I don't know why this is happening.

Is there a way to fix this?

Change the locale to USA. The "language bar" is just changing your type to english. Thats normally what its for, changing the type to different languages.

No. Change location to usa or canada. If its already on canada then try usa.

Then your pc is a bitch and needs to go back to its own country. The location and or keyboard are not properly set. You did reboot, right?

yep I've rebooted. My family has upgraded to win7 successfully so i'm not sure why this is happening to my PC. Maybe my cat messed up something while installing win7

Location and system language are two different things. System language can be found in Administrative settings (as you obviously noted) whilst the location setting is mostly for settings in installed programs. Not the language of the programs themselves.
