So, before deciding to delve into video game development, I never knew how broad the fucking term was. I want to design AND program games. Practically a game developer. I don't want to be a 3d artist or anything, even though I'm commonly told how great of an "artist" I am.

I just need to know what kind of classes I need to take..

I want to go to Wayne County Community college (MI), but the only thing that bluntly references video game development is

I can't see if those classes are going to be 100% useful for me... I'm not sure if it teaches programming at all. What a shame :\

Computer information systems... I believe that's as blunt as it gets.

Honestly, fucking help me. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
Anyone that has experience with programming with school classes should really jump into the picture and help me the fuck out. Please :\

Don't go to that college if game development means that much to you.
Simple answer.

You'd have better luck at a university for that sort of stuff, after you've completed the core classes in community college of course.

Really, at least in my country videogame development is still in diapers and I'm the one who is introducing it into universities. My university is going to be the first one in Peru with a formal videogames development area which I'll lead.
Most of the stuff you learn by yourself on the internet since it is a new subject. I study systems engineering because making a videogame is an interdisciplinary activity and you must know how to integrate everything.

If you want to just be the coder, go for a videogames oriented institute, I believe there should be at least one in USA, and look for one that is basically programming, though you need a general one enough so you don't get stuck in one language or one engine.

My family is a bit poor, so community college is a must at the moment. I'm planning on returning to school once I get sufficient funding however.
