Okay this task requires knowledge about different areas but it is quite interesting to me. I want to share it so others can code their own and release it(or not you scrooges )
In some open-world-games you have no map. You do not know where you've been, too.
My idea is to capture the scenery(f.i. using algorithms from 3D Ripper DX) and display the top view transparently on the upper left screen the way fraps does it with it's fps number. So far so good. But the main idea is to get x and y-coordinates using cheatengine and to display them as points or trails on the map.
So you know where you've already been and what your routes were. So you don't visit the same areas twice.

Cheat Engine can already display transparent images in directx games (dx9, 10 and 11)
All you need is a picture of the map, and use the sprite object to render specifics on the map

You don't have a picture of the map, as there is no map. The idea is to extract the 3D scenery that is currently in memory and display it in top view. Then put a dot at the position the player is in. Then put a dot each 2 "meters" to create a trail. So you see which doors you missed etc.
