I've got a phat PS3 on 3.66. How do I make it play backups. I don't care about any other extensive CFW shit, I just want the bare minimum to play backups.

I was thinking of getting a PS3 to do this too, are backups offline only?

3.66 is not moddable, unless you solder about inside the PS3 to flash it to 3.55.

You can upgrade, sure. Unfortunately there is no known way of modding a PS3 on anything above 3.55. Downgrading from anything above 3.55 can only be done by opening up the PS3 and flashing it.
