So I'm very interested in learning Japanese, but I don't really know the best ways to do it.

I know there are various tools out there to help teach, but I want the best ones out there.

Let me say this before continuing:
I don't have access to a local teacher or anything, so I can't go to a Japanese class

I'm more of a reading/visual learner, so I refuse to use Audio clips for learning. What I mean is, if your way of learning Japanese requires listening to CD's only, then I think it's a waste of time.

I'm currently using a software called Human Japanese. This is a very good interactive e-book, and wanted to know if there were more software like this.

My main goal is to actually learn the alphabet (Not necessarily write), understand what I'm reading, and be able to understand (for example) anime without completely relying on subtitles. I know this will take years to properly learn, but better now than never.

You have to learn how to speak the language, or understand it through spoken words. it's kinda required.

K, I already almost learned the first alphabet (Hiragana)
After I learn Katakana, I'm probably going to start learning some vocab. After this, I'll have to start learning Kanji (Which I think is fucking hard as hell). What's the best way to learn Kanji? Like, where do I learn the radicals and the best way to learn all the words?
