i just need it for books.

Make sure you force it onto Jellybean; it supports it as well currently.

It's a great device, be sure to install PandaApp after you've unlocked/rooted and try out the games like Dead Space, Mass Effect Infiltrator, Shadowgun etc

Kindle fire is awesome, except I get distracted from apps and web access.
So, I suppose, unless you are disciplined, just get the average nook/kindle e-reader. Avoid the unnecessary distractions. Not sure of the regular nooks, but I also have the nook tablet- which allows you to have a micro SD card inserted(extra space) whereas the Kindle Fire does not allow me to insert an SD card, but make up for it with the amazon cloud(free).

hp likes supporting opensource projects and I like the way they handle their drivers.

Who's the source of that picture? Asus and toshiba makes good shit, but that HP would be worse than dell, acer and apple is just rubbish.
