Your original idea is stupid; you've gone so far just to explain what Valve has already said; Aperture is in the same world as TF2, which means Black Mesa is also in it. And by the way, TF2 is 1800's to 1950 or so. Their machines are extreme for the time, and they have the engineer's grandfather putting out designs for teleporters all the way back to Abe Lincoln's assassination. All the futuristic weapons are explains in the comics as "sent from another world", as is Bill's Hat, surprisingly, even though L4D2 is set in the Valve universe.
