the whole health system is fucked, using bmi to tell if someone is obese or not is fucking stupid, we shouldnt strive to just 'not be obese' but to be athletic in ways that are beneficial, like running swimming and weight lifting
op knows this though, so whatever, its just sad being an american, pretty much everyone is unhealthy
"But he stressed that physical exercise is nonetheless important for maintaining good health.
"This to me says that the big reason that Westerners are getting fat is because we eat too much - it's not because we exercise too little," said Dr Pontzer.
"Being active is really important to your health but it won't keep you thin - we need to eat less to do that."
no one should want to be 'thin' or fat, they should just need to be healthy

Oh god, oranges, how could I forget those delicious round pieces of awesome. Haven't eaten those in months. But one meal a day sounds crushing, how do you keep your metabolism up?

I'm currently working full-time, but I do everything in the evening. Cooking takes up way less time than it used to, considering I only have vegetables and fish/meat to prepare. I usually make my shakes when I do dinner, which takes 5~10 minutes (throw it all in a blender and you're done). The snacks can easily be taken with you, and require zero preparation.
The exercises are tough, admittedly. Coming home from work, cooking, and then doing the exercises is taxing (aside from the saturday). But they only take an hour (cardio a little less), so it's doable. I'm usually done around 20:00~21:00, which gives me 3~4 hours to myself before I go to bed.
I'm in my fourth week of doing this now, and so far it's very doable.

Always eating the same isn't that healthy, I heard.

True, due to the lack of vitamins. But those meals are mostly to keep my metabolism going, and to get a shitload of proteins. I take vitamin supplements (11 pills every morning) which contain pretty much every vitamin you can get out of food, and between 300~2000% of my daily needs. I also take protein shakes after I workout.

i have a hard time getting myself to the gym. I don't dislike it i just find it very hard to spend all day working and then gymming.. feels like such a waste of private-time (even though i don't usually do anything special on work-days anyway)

No, I thought that at first too, that it was simply not getting everything you need.
But I heard that eating the same thing all the time (even with supplements), makes your digestive system 'accomodated' to those products, leaving you in agony when you try others again.
I don't even remember where I heard it, so treat it as hearsay.

If you take more of a vitamin than you need (you do 300~2000%) it will just get out of your system again. It does not benefit you to take more than you need.

Then do your exercises at home. Buy some dumbbells, a swiss ball, and a timer. Determine what muscle groups you want to train, and do a few sets every other day.

Hmm, well I'm going to Thailand in about five weeks, so we'll see how bad the explosive diarrhea will get, haha. I do eat 'bad' food once a week on sunday. Last week I ate bread, ham, and pizza. The sunday before that I drank a few glasses of alcohol and lobster with fried potatoes.

Yep, that is very true. But I rather get more than the required amount each day, then doubt whether or not I've had enough. Besides, when exercising the amount that I do, a few extra vitamins wouldn't hurt.

| Aniblaze wrote: | | But one meal a day sounds crushing, how do you keep your metabolism up? | I've been eating one meal a day for years. When I went to school I never had time in the morning for breakfast and I never brought any food to school, so I just had one big meal when I got back home.
During holidays I usually eat around noon or in the evening, but since it's Ramadan I'm eating in the morning instead, before the sun sets.
So to answer your question,
I'm probably not keeping my metabolism up at all, but I'm not trying to lose any extra weight right now. Since I've become a vegetarian my weight has slowly been dropping (1 to 2 kg a month), and that's fast enough for me.
