Hey now, gaming laptops are convenient, especially if you're a student. And if you pay an extra penny, you can get one as good as (if not better than) most desktop builds.

Only if you compare it to "most desktop builds" if you compare it to even a low-end gaming build you will struggle hard to find a laptop that even compares.

You guys realize that cloud gaming is the superior option for mobile gaming right?
I mean universities have basically the best internet money can buy, so just invest in a ~$600 work/school laptop with a nice resolution and battery life, then use onlive to play games on ultra without even having a gpu.
Even if I could afford one or two beast laptops I'd probably still use onlive, the only reason I don't use it now is because my internet isn't that great and there's a tiny bit of lag.

Well, these aren't exactly gaming laptops, but they're quite high end. The left one in the photo is a Dell Studio 1747, retailing at ~$1500 I believe? It was a gift from my parents before grade 11 began.

The one on the left is a Dell XPS 17, retailing at ~$1700. Dell gave it to me for free surprisingly, so I'm quite happy about that.

Funny thing though, these two laptops are almost 100% stationary. I never have a need to move them.

Not at all high end, the XPS 17 has a GTX 550M doesn't it?

The xps one isn't that bad at all. I've seen bf3 run smoothly on mid/high settings which for a laptop is really good.
