Does anybody know why a monitor/TV screen flickers whenever you try to record it with a camera?

and also why it gives off a horrendous amount of moiré whenever you try to take a photo of it?

depends on the update rate of the screen and the fps your camera records with

[Hero]

Because the recorder is picking up the frame rate. It sees frames. Monitor is running 60fps or 60hz and camera records 24fps or 24 hz.
