what programs are used to make web browser text based games i already know what i have to learn i just dont know what programs are used

Text based are usually done in Java or Flash. However you can use tons of things now such as:

- Java
- Flash
- Silverlight
- AJAX

And so on.

You can use Eclipse if you're going for java or use Adobe Flash compiler (not free) to make those.

So far, C++ is probably the easiest to make a text-based adventure game IMO.
As for text-based browser game though, you should probably elaborate.
