If I need 3GHz cpu speed to play a game and I have a 2.2GHz dual core processor would I be able to run it without lag or do I need a processor with 3ghz speed

Soo basically a duel core with a lower ghz can be faster than a single core with higher ghz?

Because the duel core can do cycles faster because there are more cores working?
