i like haunting guise/cap/abyssal/zhonyas for 1st and 2nd item choices on new kat
gunblade is still ok but its been nerfed a lot and isnt optimal

old kat loved gunblade tho, one of the craziest plays ive ever seen still is tan 1v4 with 3 gunblades on old kat, he vamped so much and reset so hard that they just got completely wrecked and he came away with like 100hp and a quadra kill

i think u can build w/e u think is logical and would help the team.

gunblade is good but it may b 2 expensive so i might only get it if i am fed kata.

rylais is good if ur team has 0 cc.

i build chalice against darius and udyr and won as irelia. go figure
