[Cryoma]

is really neat, I can see where it has obviously been influenced by fallout and borderlands (it's actually like a hybrid of the two), but in a good way since it improved everything greatly.

First off the environment is pretty incredible.
I can't run detailed textures on my pc without dropping to 10 fps, but with detailed on the game looks AMAZING.
Even with textures on low it looks better than fallout 3 though, especially considering how much detail there is everywhere you look.
How did they pull this off?
Linear gameplay.
By ensuring that the player can't venture off the beaten path AT ALL they have greatly reduced the amount of modeling they have to do overall.
Linear gameplay is pretty dreaded in modern gaming, but Rage nicely pulls off a gameplay style that is reminiscent of classic id games.

Next is the action, which is also incredible.
The shootouts in Rage are superbly fun.
Although at first glance the battles seem to be exactly like that in Borderlands, psycho bandits shooting at you from a distance while a few braver (or stupider) maniacs rush you with melee weapons, id has really perfected the art of battle in this game.
The AI is shocking, from the way enemies duck and roll behind cover, to how the melee rushers will come at you in a flurry of parkour stunts, running along walls, doing flips and rolls, etc.
It's like the shootouts of Borderlands, the versatility of Bioshock, and an original and improved take on enemy tactics.
Truly impressive.

The character animation in Rage is superb.
I say character animation because there isn't much else that is animated in a wasteland.
But the way the baddies recoil from damage, or move about during combat, or die, it's all seamlessly animated with much fluidity and realism.
More so than any game I've seen so far.

The dystopian/macgyver tech themes are prominent and easy to immerse yourself in.
From using a monocular as a weapon scope, to seeing two separate pairs of glasses taped together on a person's face, to crafting unique, distinguished, and efficient weapons and tools out of scrap items, it seems everything in Rage can be used for something, or at least sold for something else.

I haven't yet seen many instances of physics in play, other than enemy knockback when you hit them hard with a shotgun or large revolver slug, or being thrown off of your ATV when you crash, but those two examples are both brilliantly rigged.

I haven't yet found any bugs or glitches in Rage.

I can't complain about anything in Rage yet.

Oh, and one last thing.

Talix has bad taste in games.
Me, I like games, period. If I have a good time playing the game, it's a good game in my opinion. If a game has a great story and visuals, but isn't very fun, then it's a good movie.
