My system specs are:
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Ram - 12GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Corsair XMS III << OC 1412.67 Mhz >>>(Cooled by Triple Hi-Speed DDR3 Fans) [706.33mhz * 2]
CPU - AMD FX 4100 3600Mhz << OC 4.6ghz >> (Cooled by Liquid with push/pull combo) [Turbo Core Optimization]
HDD - 5 (4 Sata 3.0 @ 5200 rpm - 7200rpm (apprx)(1 Sata 6.0 SSD Corsair))

Issue
Scans are slow at times and am looking to speed them up, benchmarking tools show that the game and all other background application never even exceed 3gb Ram yet CE scans are slow, I am using the latest build and have tried 5.6, 6.1, & 6.2...
I've read this post from a google search which is the only one that has come close to what I am really asking "Please look @ pic below for sources"
if you recommend 16KB for 2gb/ 1024KB than how much would you recommend for 12gb.... just curious ...
I am a very performance based guy, so I don't need a lecture into memory benchmarking, I am using all of a 3gb and less yet the game has pre-allocated 7.75GB of ram and only 1.25GB of ram are free. my page file has neither decreased nor increased so not even during scans... so I am figuring that everything is being handled directly through memory and processor....
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.[/u]

It depends the cpu cache and what you're scanning. Something with a lot of results might benefit from a smaller size, yet just scanning for something that occurs infrequently might benefit from a larger buffer.
Try both, a small one and a big one and see which one works best for you. (try a scanbuffer of 16 and 1024 and see which one has the best performance)
If %temp% is not on your ssd I recommend changing the temporary scan folder to a folder on the ssd
And make sure that memory_mapped memory is disabled in your settings. (it's only useful for emulators, anything else uses it for slow device memory like gpu and disk)

Thanks DB, I changed the temp folder back and re-disabled Mem-Mapped... speeds have improved. I also tried 96KB it worked for a little bit than went bonkers. I also noticed that it seems to me that the higher i take that Scanbuffer the slower it gets but never the less I will try and see what 1024 does, as I have tested it before with 2048, 4096, and even 6144... all yielded slow results so I will try 1024...
your fast reply is much appreciated...
