yes, there are things that started in the states, but they did not really catch on.
listen to some earlier pop music for the US and you can tell where electronic music could have became popular, but for the most part it hasn't, though a lot of pop songs use elements of electronic music now, they sort of don't count

Thats really more hiphop than anything, really it just has a couple samples that are electronic
