Most of the time vps is also shared hosting (e.g they kick you when you use more than 1.5% of the cpu)
But if you want it because of security reasons then you can use a vps yes (these days you shouldn't use the term vps, but cloud, it's more fancy)
I've been with iweb for a few years now on a dedicated server and they always quickly help with problems, but they also provide cloud/vps servers (starting from $30/month)
And it seems they are running an unmetered bandwidth campaign for new servers right now

Unlim bandie is nice, but I rather get a kvm than an openvz server : S which I get:
Non shared cpu core @ 2.5ghz of some xeon thing w/e it is
512mb ram
kvm = win
2tb bandie, and no limitations to warez.pr0nz on it : >
for 6 bucks?
