My dad recently upgraded his home theater system and said I could use his old speaker system, I'm not sure if this is possible but I wanted to know how I would go about hooking it up to my computer. The only website I could find with information on them was here.

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_1/energy-encore-speakers-1-2001.html

If anyone knows how to do it, I would love to hear Razz

First make sure your PC's audio card supports a 7.1 system.

Then, show us what type of cord is coming from the speaker setup. (do they all plug into the sub then the sub into the output source like mine?)

Sound card supports 7.1, there is no cords attached to any of the speakers, but there are plus and minus slot type things on each one, with a bunch on the sub. Top two are the sub.

EDIT: They are all plugged into a receiver,

Is there an amplifier unit? What do the cords coming out of that look like? Where does the power plug in?

You would need an audio card with external contacts for that, like an older M-Audio.

uhm I don't think there is an AMP. All the cords are just simple wires with one for the negative and one for the positive terminals... Only thing that plugs into the wall is the receiver.
