so far I've found these on newegg that im considering purchasing

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230134
Please note I know very little about laptops regarding brand, specs, and all that jazz. I want a laptop that can play games such as WoW on decent graphical settings well. Need something in the 500-600 range.

Hm, for that prices range you should be able to get an i5 processor. I've noticed newegg isn't always the best place to shop for laptops.

From what I've seen, microcenter is cheaper if they actually have it in stock.

i5 with GeForce GT 540M
Feedback said "Plays BF3 very well at decent settings" so you should be able to play games fine.

What? You can barely build an i5 desktop with $600 (unless you go light on a GPU).

@Dami, acer isn't the best laptop manufacturer, in fact they have one of the higher failure rates.

i don't know why toshiba is 2nd there..my first laptop ever was from toshiba and it broke like 2 times in around a year so i just trashed it XD

well anyways i have an acer netbook and used it for a while now, had 0 problems so far. Upgraded ram and its really good for a netbook with the amd cpu and radeon gpu. I know a netbook is not a laptop but still the failure rate should be similar since its like a weak laptop. I think acer is ok, and for monitors its great.

I got a Toshiba, been using for 6 years with no problems and it's built with a magnesium alloy chassis.

Asus is great quality.
Half of my family members own an Asus laptop of one description or another, all purchased independently based on my advice. They all love their laptops. (except for my mum who wanted to trade her 17" for my dads 15" because hers was "too big")...

Don't get that. Never get a recertified laptop. I'm not saying that you can never get a recert laptop and not have any problems, but it could be broken just as easily as it could be fine. Not only is it's hardware very outdated, 17 inches is gigantic, and it weighs ~9 pounds, and it will guzzle power.
