decrements the value by 1 and say if i wanted to change the big 1 with a 2 or 3

would it be possible.

and what does the eax+40 mean??

dec [eax+40]: Decrease the 4 byte value stored at the address pointed to by eax+40 with 1

to decrease with 2 you can replace this instruction with "sub [eax+40],2"
Note that this instruction is 1 byte longer than the original so it will break the next line (mov eax,...)

To get by this you need to do a code injection.
Do that by selecting the dec [eax+40] line
press ctrl+a (or go to tools->auto assemble)
click template->code injection
Just press ok (the input address should already be set to the address of dec [eax+40] )

And now you can just change the dec [eax+40] line with sub [eax+40],2

and press execute to do the code injection
