Welcome to 3 days ago.
Old news is old.

It is pretty interesting though, them matching the processing power of a 1997 6000+ computer cluster into 1 chip (1 teraflop) in 2011.

I can't wait for a 1 teraflop laptop.
dat' power consumption

The keyboard here is co-processor. Intel Knights Corner is a accelerator or "helper" and not the main CPU itself.
Much like having a graphic card dedicated to PhysX. The main GPU is the actual graphic card while the 2nd isn't as you're using that just for PhysX calculations.

We have right now is 160 logical threads by using 4 Xeon E7 each with 10C/20T.

^^ I saw that. But I'm wondering why? Does this mean with 50 cores its not as strong as say a strongest SB i7?

What I've read Intel Knights Corner is based on the original Pentium Core.
From that, you can tell in terms of per-core it won't be as near as a SB.
And it's said to be running on PCIe, just like their unreleased Knights Ferry.
