My 3 month free Norton anti virus subscription had just expired 3 days ago, and I'm thinking whether I should buy another subscription or change to a new anti virus. I'm not sure whether to stick with it or not.
If I should switch, what anti virus should I go for? I know theres a lot of free anti viruses there but i need some of you opinions on what anti virus would suit me best.
features im looking for:
-good protection
-updated daily/weekly
-has good reviews
-does not annoy me while playing games
-free (or not)
-easy to use (as in, when it detects a false positive, you can simply turn off the anti virus for it to run)
-does not come up with too much false positives

I would never tell anyone to stick with norton purely on the fact its heavy. If your pc isn't decent it can cause it to be slow as dirt. Now this is also based on a year or 2 ago. Not sure if they fixed that.

In my own opinion, MSE + windows firewall is enough on windows vista/7. MSE catches every damn thing so far and quarantines it.

thank you, Hero. Cool, now to uninstall Norton. What else... how's the windows firewall enough? if it's enough, would you recommend me to get another firewall from a 3rd party software? Thanks again.

I completely agree, MSE & stock firewall suit fine. Especially if you use a browser that is up-to date with protection (mozilla/chrome).

(in my opinion)

Basic Protection:
MSE
Windows Firewall

Serious Protection:
MSE
Malware Bytes or Spybot S&D
Zonealarm Firewall (free i think?)

I use MSE + w7 firewall + malwarebytes. I have had issues with spybot in the past.

I use commonsense.exe and some of my brain.

But if someone I know is infected, I sweep it with Combofix, Malware Bytes and then install MSE. Making sure the Windows Firewall is turned on.

If you feel the need to pay for something, ESET Smart Security.

I gave legit information.
I've not run an antivirus for the past what, 4 years?
I've never been infected by a virus.

However, those programs I listed are good. o_O

I pretty much with would go for this simply because of the security you're looking for.
