Okay, ever since all those debugger crashes I get when Cheat Engine goes haywire, my CPU has not been performing proudly. Let's say my CPU has been entering blue screen of death when overloaded, many times; and this is not suppose to happen, I believe.

This phenomenon is shocking news to me and, today, I have decided to replace my CPU and RAM. If anyone else understands that memory editing may damage hardware, please share your thoughts. I do not wish to have to replace my hardware within the next 5 years.

- 3D Mark 11 Basic Edition yields Blue screen of Death.
- Random blue screen of deaths under heavy load + multitasking.

So, can playing with memory editing result in hardware damage?

Debuggers were made to diagnose programs. Why would they damage the hardware? It's my hobby to crash things 10 times/minute but never had such problems.

this is just indication of overheating. Most common causes are dust in the case and wires blocking the airflow.

As for programs that CAN cause hardware damage: 3DMark 11 is one that actually CAN damage hardware that is badly designed.
There are several videos where an overclocked nvidia graphics card blows up when 3dmark is running (The voltage protection in some of those cards is broken so if the voltage goes over it, pssshht... dead)

But cheat engine itself only targets memory and doesn't even stretch the videocard, so no, it's not ce

But of course, the question I wanted answered is: So, can playing with memory editing result in hardware damage?

I have no other clues on why my system has grown unstable lately. I could use some self-help advise on finding the culprit behind the problem.

---

Thanks, DarkByte. Looks like my game hacking days are not over yet. Smile

Wait a minute, this crash is based on CPU and RAM, not the video card. But never mind that, I will avoid 3D Mark in the future.

I believe it may have something to do with heat issues, too. However, I have had my computer dusted and the temperature remains the same. Does this mean it is time to replace my hardware?

What has caused the permanent heat problem? Never mind, I should point my questions to the Computer Talk section.

There are two things that can overheat. GPU and CPU
Same crashes happen when the cpu is overheating as well (more likely as well)

And if memory scanning causes a crash, you have bad ram and games should crash anyhow

Anyhow, check the cpu fans and the cooler. Dust sometimes settles inside the cooling elements as well (The cooler is NOT supposed to have a layer of something that looks like cloth over it...)

Crashes related to Cheat Engine are solely based on the debugger. Other than that, Cheat Engine functions properly. I will experiment with the new CPU and see if these debugger crashes remain. I will return to report if I find the time and the report worthy of noting. Thanks DarkByte.

Oh, the debugger will crash, that's a certain fact when playing with games.
BSOD's should not happen though, unless you're using kernelmode debugging

Haha, nice one.

Yes, get used to it. It is easy to mess up the target process with any debugger. And some games are having anti-debug protections too.
