I am finish tutorial 8 for a week ,

I am now cheating at this game. Here is my step if I want to hack money.

money value->offset->pointer1->offset of pointer1->higher level pointer->..->static address

( just like multipointer tutorial)

1.find memory address of money value in the game.
2.find offset.
3.find pointer.
4.repeat step2 -3 until I got static address
5.find static address
6.create pointer from static to the money address.
7.change value of step 6 pointer (hack money in game).




I also do this for radar hack , power bar hack and etc.

Here 's problem. On some values , it's hard to find it's address. but it should be group with memory , power , radar.

static address->higher level pointer->..-> first pointer->offset->??? value

how can I notice that which address is written in game?

So I can know that ??? value is sit there .

Usually, the money is in a group with other resources. You may change the offset of the money value, increasing or decreasing 4 bytes for example, to see what value you will receive. You can make a guess and try changing that value to test your guessing. You may be lucky but not often. Sometimes the game stores important values separately so that the game players can't cheat easily. The power is propably in group with the money. But the radar may be related to an item or a building. The game will check if this object is present. Of course, the value representing this object's existance normally won't be related the group of the money value.
If possible, you should search the power value and look for the "brotherhood" between it and the other. Among the found addresses, if there is a few "sibling" addresses, i.e difference between each of them and the already identified address is very small, you should try them first and might be lucky. Don't expect too much because that's not always true.

You could check out dissect data/structures option to help you. If values are generally grouped together in a game, then you can go to Memory viewer>Tools>Dissect data/structures to get an overview. You need a starting address, so in your case choose the address for weopon pointer address, put that in dissect data/structures, you can give the data a name, choose the default size for now and CE will try to figure out what the value types are. Then, as already said you could change some values to see what changes they might make in game.

This is trial and error and can cause the game or computer to crash so be careful to save CE often.

I remember using CE in GTASan andreas and lots of values were grouped together.I used to just change them and see which value changed in the game. Lots of values were changed in the stats of the game which helped to identify values.
