EDIT:Downloaded out of curiosity... First thing I notice is the exp bar derping every time I jump.

Okay, if you really want to ignore the shit tons of awesome stuff that's in 1.9, you can feel free. I really don't see why though, when that's hardly even a bug.
Protips:
-jumping gives you experience, however at first it's giving you so much that your exp bar increases by a ton every time you jump. Keep doing a bunch of times and you'll notice it starting to take 10-20 jumps to fill it up. Jumping also takes hunger and you can't hold down space bar to do it (notch is undoing both of those tomorrow).
-nether strongholds
-new nether mobs
-snowmen (pumpkin on top of snow block on top of snow block)
-NPCs in NPC villages (still do nothing)
-snow biomes again
-actually good swamp biomes
-mushroom biomes
and dozens of other things.

It's a pre-release that works perfectly fine, I don't see what makes it any different if he just called this 1.9 and then made another update called 1.9.1.
Like, the sole reason you're not playing it is because of what it's called, which is absolutely retarded.
Don't judge a book by it's cover/what's in a name.
