I don't know, I'm really trying to get the best performance out of my shit computer while waiting for a new one. So I decided to try and overclock it. The original clock was 2.4 Ghz, (Celeron E3200) and i raised the FSB in the bios to 225 (stock was 200), and it said I'm running at 2.7 ghz. This is my first try and i haven't tested any higher because I'm running on stock cooling. and its already idling at like 45-50C (probably because of dust).. But CPU-Z and Speccy say I'm still running @ 2.4Ghz..Why? Windows Control Panel says I'm running at 2.7 ghz. In the BIOS the only thing it let me change was the FSB anyway, is this really that easy? I seem to be running stable...(SEEM). No BSODS yet or any unstability, just worrying about my temps. So did i do it right?

(see FSB is at 225)

Sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about lol..

Thanks in Advance!

.::EDIT::.
No increase/decrease in Black Ops (everything low, fps config lolbarely get 29-33 in open, 50-90 in CLOSED areas like hallways, small rooms, etc. In Nuketown my FPS averages 35-50 not bad but considering all i have done i want my fps at a constant 40+ ;/ never will happen. Fuck Treyarch and their shitty code. ON the bright side... I have noticed a nice increase in smoothness in BFBC2 in open areas its really smooth. Judging by previous, BFBC2 doesn't drop under 35-40, which is awesome, but i don't play that all too often. Maybe like a couple hours a week. Although i have been getting into CoD4 a lot more lately, so my dilemma with FPS might be over for a while (a while). Only thing i haven't tried with Blops is running it on XP. Which supposably gives it a massive performance increase since i guess Windows 7 gives it a huge CPU bottleneck. Most of the people who've ran XP on Black Ops says almost all their lag is gone. So i guess that's my problem, OS. But so far after playing a couple hours of games, I haven't got any BSOD or instability.

Run prime95 for like, 6 - 12 hours and if you get no errors you should be fine. Im not wearing my glasses but I dont remember you saying if you increased the voltage. That could cause stability issues.

No i didn't change anything but FSB, I tried 250 (3Ghz) and windows wouldn't boot Sad. The voltage option wasn't even there. I'm at 2.8 Ghz right now and it's probably as high as its gonna go without getting unstable.

EDIT

I went up 245 on FSB and Win7 booted.. 2.95Ghz, yet it won't fucking boot on 250. Holy shit i notice the change! Start up went way quicker ! Steam and all the programs started up a lot faster than they usually do. I'm running at 2.95Ghz on stock cooling 45-50 C idle 60-70 @ load. I haven't checked for stability yet but so far so good. Sadly i haven't noticed anything in any games i play except BC2... and i don't play it that much ;/

Clean the dust out before you use it at those temps.

No dust cleaner. What do

So am i doing it right? I know you have to change voltage for higher clocks but this won't even go higher than 2.9 ghz so.. That's bs, there's literally no difference in any of the CoDs ._. but the battlefields is way more smoother lets see how bf3 goes ...cough cough 20 fps

Turn off Anti-Aliasing as it is the most CPU/GPU intensive thing. but of course, to play video games you need a strong GPU--I do not think CPUs matter much, but I do stand to be corrected.
