well so today it seems like my monitor died, it was making a weird sound recently but it worked so i did not care. I switched to TV to watch some stuff and when i wanted to switch it back to monitor, it would not switch back. When i try to switch it or reset the comp, it just buzzes(that weird sound from b4) for a second and stops, flashes and then turns dark again. Does not show anything, no even that msg when pc is not connected to it. So its really dead rite? any ideas?

also if anyone could recommend a 1080p and cheap monitor, it would be nice. Looked around on newegg but recommendations from personal use would be better, are those w/ led backlight better?

Keep an eye on the daily deals on Newegg they put up LCD monitors pretty often for really cheap. I snagged a new 24" Samsung LCD HDTV for a monitor for only $200 a while back.

The daily deals page is at:
http://www.newegg.com/DailyDeal.aspx?Name=DailyDeal

Best I can say monitor wise is stick to companies you know. Don't buy a namebrand you've never heard of. Also know what you are investing in. LCD monitors are known for dead pixels, Newegg has a 8 dead pixel minimum requirement in order to return your monitor so be sure you are getting what you want and know the risk. (May want to check local stores to see if they can match the price or even have a better return policy.)

Quote:

The following conditions are not acceptable for return, and will result in the merchandise being returned to you:

Any LCD screen that has less than 8 dead pixels

yeah, keeping an eye on newegg deals, even got one in the mail:
140$ w/ promo code but i never even heard of Hannspree XD and another one for 140 from Acer. Reviews for em seem good i guess. Well the one that fried was a cheap acer but it held out for a long ass time which i did not expect lolz, might hav been luck lolz so dono what to choose now. Plus that dead pixel thing, 8 is kinda alot o-o, think amazon has something better? gonna look for the policy for it to see if i can find it.

Amazon doesn't seem to have a base-line return policy for TVs/Monitors other then you have to have the original packaging and UPC. They mentioned they have per-seller policies in the returns part of their site which you can find here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/orc/returns/homepage.html/ref=orc_surl_ret_hp

But I didn't see anything mentioned about dead pixels.

Looking at specific product pages; eg.:
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-PA246Q-24-LCD-Monitor/dp/B004NBZ994/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315341500&sr=8-1

ASUS states this on Amazon:
Quote:

The PA246Q comes with a 3 year global warranty as well as a 1 year Zero Bright Dot guarantee that ensures full replacement if there's so much as 1 bright dot pixel. Plus, ASUS Rapid Replacement provides fast and free replacement in no time at all.*

So I'd assume its company specific. Just be sure to check the return policies on the product pages to be sure.

Before you chuck it out answer these questions and you should be good. 1. did you recently download a program or source 2. did you happen to download this game: its a video game i cant say and its blocked by dark byte there is a problem well the program can mess up your screen from the file called flash grenade your screen then goes white. most likely is that your tv is interfering with you monitor try disconnecting it and running just using your computer connected to monitor. If this does work and most likely this is your problem + rep me

TVs interfering with monitors? I've never heard of this. Is this some odd bug that happens from TVs and monitors that are 30 years old?

Don't simply demand rep either, especially here.

did not dl any new games recently, plus its like SF said, i used TV+monitor for a long time and never encountered a problem like them interfering w/ each other. Anyways, i took the monitor out, took it to diff power outlet and it wont turn on even by itself. Its dead~ i got an eye set on a new one but gonna wait few days and maybe will catch something better. Thanks Wiccaan for the info.

Two daily deals up right now:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236096&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-24-236-096-_-Product

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009266&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-24-009-266-_-Product

Both fairly cheap and decent monitors. Both are from good companies as well.
