| Why do they not exist? Like, where you don't have to refresh the page to see new things? They should just pop up automatically. I'm pretty sure we have the resources and shizz to do it :/

With topics and post count system and other stuff a forum has that chat doesn't.

| They could probably use some jQuery or another JS library to refresh the parts of a page or pages that get updated, and cache the rest. That way you wouldn't have to load the whole page. I know MS' ASP.NET has a caching feature similar to that, and probably for that reason or a similar one.

What everyone else said but double. It would be a chat. Besides, whenever someone posts in the forum again, I get an email. And Gmail automatically updates, so I don't need to keep checking back again. Just keep gmail open.
Also, ControlAltDelete, where did you get that gif
