|
|
Ok so.. recently my cousin's computer has been refusing to boot and I need some advice to narrow down would could be causing the issue.
Basically what happens is when you turn it on the fans go on for about 5 seconds, no post or anything then shuts off and does it again, and so on.
While I think the issue is with the MoBo or PSU(not really actually, I replaced it only about a 1-2 years ago and I've never had a corsair fail on me), I am kind of inclined to think it's possible that the GPU could be the issue but I'm not sure if a bad GPU would be able to cause the PC to not boot at all? Reason being is because a while ago I replaced the old 8800GTS with a 5770 and ever since then it's been adapting some strange booting habits. For example; when you turn it off it won't be able to boot again unless you flip the switch on the PSU on/off again, same goes for trying to put it to sleep, it won't wake up and you have to switch the PSU on/off again for it to boot. I don't currently have the PC with me right now but will pick it up today.
Anyone have an idea what could be the issue?
Here's the specs;
Antec 900 Case
ASUS P5E-Deluxe LGA 775 MoBo (Pretty sure this is the one)
Intel C2Q Q6600
Radeon 5770 (Forgot the brand)
Corsair 750W PSU
Thanks

Reset the cmos using the jumper on the mobo. Should see 3 pins and 2 covered by plastic. Take off that plastic and put it so its on the opposite end pin. so if its 1 2 2, make it 2 2 1. 1 being the pin with nothing on it.

turned out it just needed a cmos reset, took out battery for a few mins and put it back it and it booted up again.
