|
|
I've been trying to install the service pack 1 update for Windows 7
and when the computer restarts, it starts to install a few things then I get this error in between, and it happens every time i restart my computer
I can restart and run utility partition and use windows restore to get my computer back running again but the SP1 isnt installed
I tried the solution on the microsoft website of installing a hotfix but still no luck
if anyone could help that would be great

You may have some permission problems...
1. Download and run MSFix
2. Download SubinACL
3. Copy this to notepad and save as win7sp1.bat Do not save as Win7sp1.txt.bat
Code: | @echo off
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=system=f
@Echo =========================
@Echo Finished.
@Echo =========================
@pause |
4. Extract subinACL to C:\Windows\System32
5. Copy that Win7sp1.bat to the same directory as subinacl
6. Run Win7sp1.bat as Administrator
When it's done correctly a command screen will open up and a red bar will appear during the process. It will take some time to complete so do not end it midway. When it's done try reinstalling SP1.
You may also want to try install SP1 via standalone install instead of through Windows Update.

The most likely solution for your problem is to actually format and perform a reinstall. Backup any important data if necessary.
That Windows 7 disc, is it original?

run sfc/scannow then install SP1
Don't work, you can try first create a slipstream Win7 SP1 disc by using
ImageX tool through MS Win7AIK (Automated Installation Kit).
The kit will also help you create a bootable ISO image. Then perform a repair install.
To do a repair install, insert your Win7 as your still logged in to Windows.
Run the setup and select upgrade.
Seriously instead of wasting all this time, it's better that you save your stuffs and just format for a clean installation.

Why don't you just listen to kls, reformat, and reinstall windows. It takes like an hour.

Well, comparing a couple hours compared to the couple days you've been trying to fix the problem..

I have recently been getting this error while trying to update Windows 7 64 bit. It fails out when updating. My solution since reformat isn't an option was to disable updates.
Microsofts official solution should their new Windows Integrity Update Checker tool thing fails is a full reinstall, or an in place install.
kls85 is correct for the resolution to this particular issue. This isn't isolated to Windows 7 either. It has existed since Vista.
