Spreading some culture with these logos is something that I appreciate. At least one thing that is not aiming to make users even more retarded. I hate Google a bit less for that.

yes, their logos are fun. i remember there was one colorful polka dots logo where you move the mouse and they get bigger. i saved the page on my computer... it's pretty legit

Google's main page is ad free because they don't know what you're interested in until you search, or are logged in. Google exploits your searches to show you ads that you're most likely to click on. Which is perfectly fine to me if that means "free" services like YouTube.
