I just woke up and realized that I'm finally going to college, and because of that I have to buy what I want using my own money, since a lot my parents' money is being used to fund my college education. Those days when I simply ask for them the money I need to buy what I want are over. I possibly couldn't get a real job right now as those jobs require you to be a college graduate.

So, to put it out simply, I would like to ask you guys if are those "online jobs" real? I really don't have enough time to actually "work", so I have no other option but to try doing "work" online.

Some say that these are just scams, some say otherwise. But I wondered, all I have to do is create an account and do some stuff on my computer, what could I possibly lose? I could use a fake identity and use information on a bank account with only like $2 cash.

They could be scams they could be legit. You really won't know unless you try. The sad fact is though that on sites like Rent-a-coder and such you end up working the equivalent of $2 an hour. If you don't have the time is it worth it for you to work a 12 hour work week for 24 dollars or to wait on tables in a local restaurant for 12 hour work week and make at least minimum wage?

Waste of time. They are scam. Especially when they promise some high income with minimum work without any neccessary knowledge. Money is not growing on the trees. If someone is promising lots of money for almost nothing, it is either a scam or you have to sell drugs and weapons online until the FBI will kick in your door and arrest you for 6327845346 years.

Well, $2 an hour seems very tiring, but I think its worth a try. Someone told me that online jobs are good for people who don't have much time to do real work, since you choose when you work and where you work. I could stay anywhere in the campus and do these jobs, but are there some online jobs that give more than $2 an hour?

Why can't you get a job? Not all jobs require a college education, and don't even think you're too damn good to flip burgers.

SF is right. There is very little you could do online that you couldn't earn more working on or off campus to make some cash in as much time. Have you tried looking into a paid internship for something in your field of study?

Most jobs I've had while in school you told them the days/hours you were available to work then they scheduled your shifts around that. The $2 an hour is an example it's not the rule and it's not set in stone. My brother was making $1500 a month a few years ago building online content and selling it in game. The bad thing was he would work his normal job about 40 hours a week then on top of that he was putting in another 30 - 50 building for his online sales. He burnt out on it within a year not to mention the sales dropped off.

At OP:

Your post is contradictory. You don't have time to work... and you don't think working online will take time?

The problem with online jobs is, yes they exist, and yes they legit. Problem is... they take time... a LOT more time than a regular job, and the reason is because so many people want an online job that most people are willing to give up more of their time for less pay (just so they can say to their friends "I have an online job).

You can try ChaCha. Even if you can deal with the stress, and you are able to answer a question within 1-3 minutes, you will earn, at most about half of minimum wage. That's on a good day with high traffic.
There is also fuckyouturd, but good luck trying to think of content to upload and a place to post it with people that are willing to download from such a shitty site... I too, go the idea, "well I'll write an ebook about something I know a lot about", and I did. Then I realized... wow I could make a lot more money selling my ebook on ebay.

Online jobs are so difficult, they are almost a joke. You are a lot better off getting a job at fast food, retail, or even better... a call center. That's the only way you'll have any spare money. Unless you have some money to start with, and you are proficient (or have enough time, which apparently you don't) to study either the stock market, or buying/selling on ebay.

As an alternative, you could always sell drugs. You will need to know a lot of people to even be making as much as you would with a minimum wage job, and it's extremely risky... but it doesn't take much brains or time.

Though I'm not anti drug by any stretch I'd advise against selling drugs. All it would take is 1 time getting caught even for a misdemeanor and any school funding your receive in the form of State or Federal grants is gone forever. Once convicted of even a misdemeanor drug offense you are ineligable for any financial aid for school. When you registered you should have read that in your FAFSA app, if you applied for it.

Consesus seems to be, work is called work because it's work and takes time. If there were a get rich quick or make tons of money online we would all do it.

I'm sure DB who has written probably one of the single most well thought out, well executed independent apps I have ever come across isn't making a killing in revenue from it vs the time he spent developing it.

Very wrong. I don't know where you ever heard that, but google it. Financial situation is considered more than anything else... it's only if you are convicted of selling more than once, or possession more than twice that you must complete some kind of probation or rehab before you are eligible again. Otherwise you are ineligible one year from the conviction date of possession, and two years for selling. Misdemeanors vs felonies make no difference.

It is true that work takes time, like I said. If you already know some things, or take the time to learn them, it is possible to get rich quick from ebay, or even the stock market. There are ways to make money from the stock market that take weeks, not months or years. The problem with these two ideas is that they are risky, and take money to start up.

If you are broke, have bad credit, and generally have very few resources... then your only option for money is a low-wage job like the ones I mentioned.
If you can at least get a low-wage job, and you have no credit (not bad credit, but no credit), then it is possible to get a loan (or credit card) to fund whatever investment you have in mind. This way you wouldn't have to save up money, and if your idea fails, you can still pay off your debt (while sacrificing a paycheck or two in interest).

. . .?

I go to one of the most expensive schools in florida, and I can easily tell you that there are a bunch of people even in their mid twenties at this school working in your average supermarkets, mall stores, fast food joints, and restaurants because their parents paid for school(at least partially) and they have to pay off the tab or some other loan.

Anything that pays above or at minimum wage is a real job. Go out and look for them.

Get yourself a part-time job if you dont want to work too much. And if you cant stand doing 10-20 hours of manual labor, then you got a problem there.

o.o

PS: Don't forget to leave your cave when you apply for a job. Most employers wont look at your application unless you actually go up to them and told them you applied or are interested in the job.

I checked their site, my question is though is it worth that chance? And even then with your school knowing you were convicted of selling do you really think they will let you stay there? Still not worth it following you the rest of your life.

If already enrolled in a school, no, your criminal record wont matter. If enrolling in one, most schools wont actually care, although it will be in consideration as you go higher up in the quality of the school.

The problem is when it comes to finding a job. From all the unemployed people in the country, what makes you think a company will hire somebody with a history of drug use/possession/selling over somebody with a clean record? It happens all the time, even with the smallest of lines on your criminal record.

Guys. Some piece of advise here. Never trust any site that offers big salary for less work. They are just scams. In the end, you'll never get paid. Don't bother also to pay any amount of money. I've been there, I've been scammed before. From that time on, I'd always go to legitimate outsourcing sites like odesk and elance. Although it's hard to get your first job there because of competition, it's still worth it. Just get your job done well and right so you'll get good feedback and rating which will make your rate grow up. For more info about outsourcing sites, this blog can help: http : // www . timedoctor . com /blog/2011/02/22/the-top-6-outsourcing-sites-and-how-to-use-them (Just remove the spaces)

One successful way to work at home on a compputer is to first get a job using your computer skills. Next, work into being able to do this work form your home.

Probably scams.
To work on online you need to be independent, and probably be very skilled at some profession like programming, marketing, and anything else that a program can't do.
Most of these professions will require high education which you can acquire at university/collage or online.
Anything else is probably a scam.
