This might sound like an unintelligible question, but i'm asking because i honestly do not know. And it is with my high hopes that someone can clarify or explain to me what it is I am going to ask.
I have taken a sudden interest in pointers. I know a small part of what a pointer actually is. I don't know a whole lot. My question is, how can i find and Identify a pointer. And when would a pointer need to be used, and why would you use it.
I ask this because, I have taken interest in a game that I play a bit more often. And I can do things with this game quite easilly, however my addresses change when I do things, like change rooms, etc. I am not exactly sure if a pointer would solve my problem and give me what it is i'm looking for, however that is why I implore minds with more knowledge than I, in hopes that I might learn an answer.
If it is not too much trouble can someone please give me a good analysis of this?

The game is probably using a dynamic memory allocated address, DMA.
Pointer would be the address that points to the one you are finding, there can be more then 1.
Pointer: "aka the real address you need because it will be a static address."
Also you cant rule out code shifting. "If this is happening there is allot more work needed"
Maybe someone else can explain it allot better then me, but if you do the CE tutorial it has one on pointers.
