I was considering getting it for the price but is it big enough for drawing? Because of the size I figured that it might be a little awkward. Any personal experiences, reviews, better product suggestions?

The bamboo isn't really suited for artists, just a replacement for everyday mouse use.
If you're absolutely broke and that's all you can afford then it will do, but the intuos 4 had more sensitivity levels, pen nibs, and other features made especially for artists.
I've had both and the intuos is simply better in all ways.
If you get the bamboo make sure it's not the fun or touch, they are terrible.
If you get the intuous make sure it's medium and not small or wireless.
If you get rich someday get a cintiq.

bamboo series sucks.
if you want a cheap tablet the genius G-pen 4500 is where to look at.
thats if you dont have money for an intuos3 medium or better.
(( my first tablet was the G-pen, now I have an intuos4 Large ))

I have a Bamboo and I can tell you it's not at all that great for artwork. It is better than using a mouse, but it's still not great. The Intuos seems like it would be better, but if you're really looking to invest, a Cintiq is your best choice.

Thanks guys! I think I'll consider saving for a Intuos4 Medium!
And oh my, the Cintiq.

You should compare the features they offer, and decide for yourself. What's "good"?
The Intuos4 is $300+
Cintiqs start somewhere around $800 and go into the thousands.
This type of data is readily available on the Internet!
