|
|
Hi,
Pointer Scanner has been a nice tool from time to time when i cannot track down something ...
In many case it will give you useless results but within those you can get 1 valuable one ...
In order to make this feature better i did like to suggest a way to filter or sort it by modules...
Where you can List only a given module or Sort by Modules aswell as an way to search for an offset in the modules list...
Let's say something you where looking for was in a node of an offset you had... so you had the address System+123 so you could go and search for it to list what results you got under it.
Thanks for the great tool and i hope i get some feedback or even some response on this i know you guys might be really busy.

hmm, I might consider it for smaller result files (less than 50000)
Reason:
The time to sort the results will take the same time as a rescan, multiplied by the number of pointers
With a small result set I might be able to load them into ram instead of harddisk and then sort with the help of a linked list for the pointers

The ability to sort would be useful, but it would also be useful to limit the actual pointer scan to only those results that end (or start) in a given module. So, if I know that I want a pointer that is going to start from a stable memory address in a particular module, them to be able to restrict the results accordingly would be a nice feature. This would in many cases reduce the final results significantly and limit them to things that are relevant based on what you already know to be looking for...
Cheers,
creo

That would help a lot and thanks for atleast considering my idea.
i hope you can get any of it on it, Cheat Engine is a great tool and i use it every day...
then what about adding it to the results with an assigned number and the ability to copy and paste all the results to somewhere else at least it would gives us the ability to break it into files and do a search on it then we the assigned number we can grab it on the list and add it to our box ...
I know it might be hard due to memory etc or perhaps if it is a huge result save it in multiple files in a way it would be easier to search on it... or use some database ? sqlite ? i dont know just throw out ideas ... eheh

What I'd love to see is a 'remove all paths that don't include (this base address)' - like if I'm working in a game where I know most important pointers stem from say, client.exe+017D2F20, I'd like to remove all the fluff.
