I just got my quad Core(Q8300), as the last one was damaged(Q9400). It is a mid rag computer consisting of:
MSI P7N SLI
4g DDR2 @667
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300(down grade i kno )
650W PSU
EVGA nVidia GeForce GTS 250 512 mb
Of which i started piecing together for i saw 2 years. I dont work and i am only 16 so i think i did well of saving the money from skool.
My problem is I cannot get the screen to display anything.
I tested the Power Supply, The Graphic card was SLI in my brothers computer all this time and the processor is new. What can the problem be

Does it POST (Power On Self Test) when you turn it on? POST is a series of beeps usually anything other than 1 short denotes an issue. When it boots can you see any text on the initial screen like the BIOS settings? When you connected it to the motherboard did you also connect the power rail for the video card?

The CPU rarely dies and if you still have your broken machine, you can take out the Q9400 and swap it. Careful with the pins on the sockets!
Speaking of the pins, remove CPU and look at the pins for any signs of damage.

If you're sure all the cables are in properly, the images aren't necessary, and even so the quality on that webcam is too bad for anyone to spot an issue.
Do you have another monitor you could try?
Re-seat the graphics card(or try another one), or take it out entirely and see if you get any beeps at all.

The monitor i use on it is the monitor i am using now, so i know it is good. i reseated the graphic card, now all i can think is that it is the CPU / motherboard
ohh i also tested the power supply in the computer i am currently using.
I just want to program hacks for games of which i cannot play on this

So when it's turned on there is no POST whatsoever. When you turn it on do you get LEDs on the computer lighting up? This way we can eliminate the PSU working or not, or try to narrow it down to something else.

Take the CMOS battery out of your mobo for 5 seconds when it's off, boot it up for 2 seconds without it in then turn it off, put battery back in and reboot.
I can't explain it in simple terms but basicly the BIOS hasn't registered your GPU and thus cannot output it..

I hav this prob quiet often when swapping out GPU's and a quick CMOS reset works for me ...
Try this ...
1. Turn the power supply
2. Remove CMOS battery
3. Press "Clear CMOS" button
4. Wait a few seconds, Re-insert CMOS battery
5. Turn on power supply
Now try again if it does not work then it must be the GPU ...

Have you tried another GPU on this mobo?

Ok - if clearing the CMOS doesn't work it comes down to 2 things.
1: Not enough power going to the PCIE. (Either due to mobo (No, clearing CMOS would make this option obsolete) or due to PSU (Most likely this.))
2: Damaged GPU
Please, please, please tell us your PSU saying 650W and it supports SLI isn't enough, I bought a 550W PSU for £30 which "supported" sli a few years ago which couldn't cope with a dual core with inbuilt graphics. oh and also tell me hwo long ou have had the PSU too, thanks.
