Does anyone know of any common causes for this? It has never happened to me before, but after I reformatted it has happened 4 times mid-left 4 dead game..
It, referring to my display completely pixelates into pink, white and other random colors, without me being able to do anything but to shutoff.
I have a GeForce 9800 GT, and I have installed the latest drivers from nvidia.

Is the fan on a decent speed? Have you overclocked and turned your clocks too high? Those could be some reasons.

I have no idea, I don't know too much about this stuff. I can tell you that it SOUNDS normal (the fan doesn't seem to be over-stressed), and I haven't changed any settings or anything..

Could be drivers, could be RAM, or the vram failing. If temps are in acceptable range then reseat your RAM, still no then reseat gpu, if still no reinstall higher gpu drivers or lower gpu drivers.

That sounds like VRAM failing.

| I have no idea WHY my post I made in this topic was deleted, or why I got a derep for it. The simple fact of the matter is that hardware can get damaged overtime and it is inevitable that it will deteriorate. This is not impossible, not uncommon, and not a reason to delete my post over.
