I have always said the Battlefield series in general was much better than Call of Duty. IMO, Battlefield requires a much higher degree of skill to actually play and do well in. But that is also it's downfall. CoD is one of those "Pick up and play" games that just about anybody can get into it. A lot of my friends (CoD die hards)will usually just give up on Battlefield in the first day.
I think people have been sucking on the CoD teat for too long and it is almost impossible for many to be weaned off of it. _________________

| I completely agree. CoD requires almost no skill, but there's so many damn fanboys that it's not likely to stop until the series itself stops. Battlefield is much nicer looking and requires a fair bit more skill than CoD imo. |

I remember trying to get a couple of my friends to play some New Vegas and all I got was "Is there multiplayer?" _________________

i couldn't agree less. I am a battlefield fan. I like a shooting game that has an actual taste of war (tanks, airplanes, vehicles, huge maps, far away sniping, team/squad play, cooperation, etc) all of this is found in battlefield 2 (demo) _________________

| Battlefield 3 will be an absolute triple A CoD destroyer. Unfortunately, that will also mean the CoD and BF mashing together a bit. In the words of "swordsmanx75", (who I like to think of as like a youtube representative of the BF community) the BF community right now could be as good as it's ever going to get, because everyone's so fucking good at it. |

Hopefully, Battlefield 3 will make Activision/Treyarch/Infinity Ward shit their pants a bit and stop rehashing shit over and over again. They obviously didn't respect BFBC2, because you have Black Ops. Because competition will make everyone step their game up, and I think if they take their time a bit, the next CoD developer can make a really great game. They did it with COD4, can they do it again? _________________

I agree about BF3, having played all COD's since the first, I love Black Ops. What I hate are the people that play the game like it's on Xbox or like it's CS. What I hated about all the Battlefield series was the same thing. Though I do love me some Bad Company, too few maps though. If BF3 is better than Bad Company was, it will surely put a bite on the COD franchise.
You will always have fanboys for any game. I have friends in COD that pretty much refuse to play anything else. _________________

But only with a month. We have waited for a decade already and our patience has been tested so another decade of waiting shouldn't be a problem. We are halfway there already. I am just 28. Maybe I will even be alive when it comes out. (The video at the bottom is not bad.)
I don't care about military shooters. We got like 2-3 in every month and even though I don't play most of them, I have still seen more combat than a GI Joe. Cod 1, MOHAA and BF1942 was something new but it is very boring to see 50 times every year how US Marines/Special Ops/Whatevers are saving us from terrorism and/or communism. It is all just part of one big huge "Uncle Sam needs YOU" campaign. If they stick to military crap, they could at least change the concept (that will not happen) like playing as terrorists. Steeling a car, putting tons of explosives on it and drive it into some building. Sneaking up on US outposts, plant bombs on them and bang. Smuggle weapons and drugs on the border, kidnap people, drive a SCUD launcher, keep revolting citizens in bay in some dictatoric country, or whatever, just not the usual story.
But if we still stick to BF or CoD, then CoD is pretty simple but at least (probably because they don't implement anything new in the game, just change the sounds and textures) relatively bugfree. The concept of BF could be better but BF2 and BF2142 sometimes caused BSOD for many people (including me) so no thanks, I have deleted them. The BFBC2 campaign was not just boring, but it was full of bugs like enemies standing in the air, teleporting from one place to another and similar WTF effects so it didn't even worth a blank DVD. Maybe (but just maybe) if they will test BF3 properly before they release it and it will not be full of bugs, then I will have mercy on the "demo" version and they really have to put themselves together to convince me to buy it.
I wonder if any company is planning to make non-military oldschool shooters. It would be nice to kill hordes of bloodthursty brutal aliens again. _________________
