I was looking around the web how would i create a service in win32 C
and i saw all kinds of things that i didn't understand much.

is there a special main entry for service as WinMain or DllMain?
for a start i'd like to create a service that would prompt me a simple messagebox saying "this is a service"

any help would be great

Look into: CreateService

The API link I gave is part of what you need to use in order to write the service. You can see another full example on MSDN here too:

Granted its not 'C' specific so you will have to modify it some to compile as C.
