doesn't matter as it uses UTF-8 encoding by default
Does it work better when you add the encoding to it and then load back ?

anyhow, the spaces before and after work?
If so, could be the quotes around the description could be messing up the special characters

Try editing the .CT in a texteditor that supports utf-8 and remove the spaces and see how that works (So I can check if the problem occurs during loading or saving)

Also, when you just save it, does it look correct in the texteditor ?
