If its anything like the wii you could either put the cd in and rip it to the hard drive or download the file from your computer and use some sort of manager to put it on the hard drive.

| No custom firmware exists that would allow you to play all games via the backup manager method. You'll be depending on the 'direct boot' functionality of the boot loader, which only works 30% of the time. This because the system calls for the boot loader haven't been fully implemented. Wait for them to implement the syscalls in 3.55 CFW first.

This, also downgrading your PS3 makes the Blu-ray function disabled.
Thus, you may not play anymore Blu-ray movies on your PS3.

This is basically the only way to do it, but the method is so MINDFUCK I'm not even going to try.
If you are willing to try, this guy knows his stuff.

I don't have a fat ps3, and mine is on 3.41 which is used for playing most games. Even though pretty much every new game has a work around etc, to play on 3.41 instead of 3.5X etcetc.

Depends on the method you're using to jailbreak your PS3, but after the jailbreaking all steps remain the same really. Find a back up manager (Sexy manager, Open Manager, etc) There are literally tons of them.
If you're going to install games on the internal HD of the PS3, you're going to need to set up an FTP server from the ps3 to your computer (which is quite easy, if you don't have everything into a router atm just plug in an ethrenet cord from ps3 to PC) if you're going to use an external HD, make sure it is formatted in FAT32, and all games go into a folder on the root of the HD labeled
