I have a USB printer connected to the computer that is connected to my router, is it possible to share this printer to the users of the router?
Im using windows XP.
Yes, you will need to enable "File and Printer sharing" under your XP box and make sure it's firewall is off. The downside is that for another computer or device on the network to use this printer, the XP box will have to be on.
A better option is to buy a jetdirect or similar device. This will allow all your computers access to the printer without the need to have a computer on.
If you get one, I'd suggest staying away from the Hawking Technologies. I had one of these and it was pretty much crap. It worked well, but the device kept dropping off of my network. _________________
