How hard are they to obtain?
How DO you obtain them?
Why are they worth so much money?

I have the game, but I rarely play.

Some randomly drop, some come in crates too, some are bought in the mann co store. Not many are worth a lot. Only 'Unusual' hats, which are hats with a special effect on them (not paint, that's a different thing and isn't worth a lot at all) or set hats like Bill's hat or the earbuds are worth like 20 bucks. Max's severed head is like 100 bucks.
