I believe this is like the matrix without all that jazz, instead are in a simple program atm.

Same here. I've been thinking this for a while and thought that the universe is just a 3d FPS game but without guns (sometimes you can have guns). And when you die, you are then released from a machine that had trapped you since you were born.
