|
|
Hello, and sorry if this is been asked many times, but I've looked in google and the forum, and I didn't find what I was looking for...
I've seen that there is a version called Cheat Engine Lazarus, but I haven't been able to find a download.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and the version 5.6.1 doesn't work as it did with XP.
I've heard that the 64 bit version of Cheat Engine has quite less features than the x86 version, but it's not like I need all of them.
For most cheats I had to use hyperscan, because with normal scan I have almost never found the value I wanted, but in 7 x64 hyperscan always fails...
So, as I guess that the x64 CE version doesn't have that kind of scan problems, it would be really helpfull to me.
Thanks in advance.

That depends, if the target process is a 32-bit and ce 5.6.1 can't find anything, then the 64-bit version won't find anything either
I'd check if it's attached to the proper process and that the thing you are searching for is actually there (and not on another server)
as for the 64-bit version not having problems with hyperscan is true, what's gone can't cause a problem
anyhow, if you insist on trying it: http://cheatengine.org/temp/CheatEngine6Alpha15.rar

Thanks alot for the fast reply! ^^ And nope, I didn't have any of those problems before on XP. All the games are 32 bits, and I always attached to the right process, They are also installed on my PC, so there are no server-sided values.
Anyway, I'll try this version and see if it works fine now...
I'll post results as soon as I can.

If it is a browser game and you use firefox, make sure you target plugin-container.exe and NOT firefox
also, disabling your anti-virus helps. Some of them block CE from properly reading memory
as for a tip to increase the chances of finding stuff, go to settings->scan settings and include mem_mapped memory regions
It's usually useless, but in some situations it might contain something useful, like in emulator games and in vmware

It will scan all the memory in the virtual machine and the memory will not be ordered properly
It's then all physical memory and its up to you to piece it together with the pagetable of the target process
In short: Finding and changing values will work, but working with code or large pieces of data (more than 4kb) won't work (without a lot of extra stuff)
