|
|
I don't know if it's my router or my laptop, but whenever I try to listen to music or watch videos online, my internet suddenly disconnects, then connects again a minute later. It doesn't happen everytime though.
It kind of goes like this... After coming home from school, I return to my laptop which I have left on the entire time, I would begin my regular routine. Read the news online, check my email, begin talking on MSN, then watch a Youtube video. The video does load, but about a quarter of the way through, my internet would just disconnect, then like a said before, reconnect after about a minute and the problem would just be gone. I would then be able to continue what I was previously doing (watching more videos) without any diversions. After that one time of the internet disconnecting, everything seems to be working fine again, until maybe 6 hours later, when I decide to watch another video. It disconnects again, reconnects, then everything is back to normal.
I know that the problem seems small, but what annoys me is how this happens everyday. Sometimes there might not even be a large gap of time in between the occurrences. I might decide to watch 5 videos in a row, but then experience the disconnection problem with the 4th. To be honest, it's completely random when these disconnections occur, but they always occur at least once whenever I watch any videos online.
Here are my computer specifications if it helps:
Windows 7 Home Premium (Version 6.1, build 7600)
Dell studio 1747
Intel(R) Core i7 CPU
Q 720 @ 1.60 GHz
6 GB RAM
64-bit OS
Network adapters:
DW1520 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card
I don't know if this relates to the problem...
Anyways, if my explanation seems too vague, just tell me what I need to include.
But yeah, the main question:
How do I get rid of these disconnections? Other than using a wire...

Go to device manager, your wifi card configuration, advanced, and then look for power save mode, and disable it.
Worked for me.

Wireless, is there by chance a kitchen between your router and you? Sounds odd I know, but my wife when on her laptop (wireless network) will lose connectivity when the microwave is turned on. Issue lasts until microwave is stopped or done.

Hmm, there's a kitchen nearby.
I'm in my room in the basement, and the router is in the dining room computer, directly above my room. Beside the dining room is the kitchen,
But this isn't just when the microwave is on, I mean, it's happening at like 3 in the morning as well, when everyone's in bed.
