|
|
So, I have plenty of moles, about 20 or so. Located mainly around my neck/chest/back, some on my legs.
About 4 months ago, a small brown dot appeared on my stomach. It has since grown to be about 3mm across.
Someone was telling me recently that a mole changing size is an indicator of skin cancer.
Any idea if this is big enough to be a tumour?

If its increasing in size, it definetly has a chance to be cancerous, I have a black/brown spot on a mole on my back that my doctor strongly advised to get removed if it increased in size ( it hasnt so far). I would definetly go to a doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, I heard that discolorations of moles are very likely to be cancerous.

Enduring? It is in no way paining me. I only remember about it when I see it. It's just a small brown mole.
I am visiting the doctor (in Australia) in January 2011 for a check up on a kidney condition, if it increases in size before that I will see the Australian High Commission doctor here.

I have got to be honest I'm slightly paranoid about that. I had a small mole that had a little dot growing inside and then I noticed a jagged edged freckle next to it. I went to get it checked up and it turned out to be nothing.
If you are worried about it go to the doctor.

Go to a dr, I had several of these as I spend alot of time in the sun.
It's the coolest thing, it's like getting a cortazone shot. They use compressed liquid nitrogen to freeze it off. They spray it for a min or so to freeze it. Later that day it scabs and after a few days scabs and falls off.
Does leave a small scar no mole though.

Better safe than sorry.
And I assume you spend a fair bit of the time in the sun, so it's always a possibility.

I suggest you get a doctor to use something like that mole freezer on it.

Sounds mad. Is there visible vapor, like I just stepped out of a sci-fi?

8-12 hours of the weekend in sun. And no, I have never heard of this sunscreen stuff. Also my location = 5 degrees from equator. Strong sun.
So I will ask the doctor about it in January. Or is that too long? Doesn't cancer take years to have any effect?

The earlier you catch it the better.

Theres some sorta superstition where a mole is good luck if it grows in certain areas, but if its getting larger like that, you should see a doctor.
Oh, you know how some people have those huge moles with hair growing out of them? Careful of those too
