I'm totally lost on Step 8. I have stepped through just as in Step 6 tracing the pointers. I think I have reached the end of my pointer search. So far I have followed these to get my pointers.
The final break down is that the last pointer is pointing to 00490000
From here I am lost, when I try to change the register at this location my next bar is unchanged. I am not fully sure what I am doing wrong or what I have missed.
This is the table that I have created.
Code:
0049294C <--- initial address of value
004934AC <--- first ptr
004934AC <--- second ptr
00493CCC
00493CB8
0049000C <--- final ptr
00490000 <--- even though the ptrs change this one always comes up in every trace I have done.
I realize that the pointers change with each run, but the final value 00490000 remains constant regardless so I am fairly certain I am on the right track.
What am I missing? _________________

Try locking it, then changing the first one (that points to the changing number) to 5k and clicking the change pointer button. If you've got it right, you will be able to advance.
Here's what I was doing wrong. When I was adding my pointers, I firstly wasn't including the offsets, second I wasn't linking my pointers together. I was adding them individually.
I did solve in the end, but it took a Youtube video to point out what I was doing wrong.
Now to solve it using the Pointer Scanner.
Thank you for your help justa_dude. _________________
