My brother has a laptop and the disk drive is corrupt. Are there other methods like usb install or something?

This is generally the easiest way. I suggest googling winsetupfromusb. Itwill install the os so to say to the usb flash drive making it bootable. Just be sure to format the usb with ntfs. I used ntfs for xp and w7.
